American Austin Rooster

Original Stant rooster radiator caps are few and far between these days.  The one waiting to go on my car is a reproduction made by an ABS club member since the Stant units are just too hard to find and are too expensive when they are found.

This particular one has some painting over on it and it looks to have some pitting.  I’ve heard that these are not supposed to be chromed, but are rather a duller finish.  Its hard to tell what this rooster would look like cleaned up, but the seller’s refund policy may make it worthwhile to see if this will work for you.

Notice the markings on the bottom:  Stanco  THE STANT MFG.CO. CONNERSVILLE, IND. PAT’S.PEND’G.  AA-2840.

It’s a buy it now listing, so if you want it, you may want to click that button.  Buy it now price:  $475 Sold: $400

6/6/2016: T-5 brochures

If you’re in Germany, a T-5 brochure may be a more common sight.  However, if you’re in the USA, the chances of coming across any advertising material for a T-5 is near impossible; unless you enjoy spending hours on German Ebay.

Don’t forget to convert your bid into USD from the Euro prior to bidding and you may want to contact the seller to find out what shipping to the USA will be.

Saturday Model T Parts

Although the focus of this site shifts on occasion.  Today I am embracing my inner Model T enthusiast.  I’ve always wanted a brass car, and stirred up quite a ruckus on the MTFCI form back in the day asking which was better:  black or brass?  Since then, I’ve gotten a 15 Touring, but the brass cars still get my attention.

So, if you’re like me when I was 20, maybe the idea of building an early brass T from parts how about a nice 1911 engine?

If only to further spark your dreams of building a 1911, a seller on Ebay has a beautiful new 1911 Torpedo body for sale.

If you are one of the ten people, you will get a free 6 month ad on this site.  This offer expires at 11:59 pm (EST) on April 30, 2016.

First Glimpse at the Shopping List

For the past while, I have been hoping to add a “shopping list” of sorts to this page to enable us to save as many Bantam parts as possible from the scrap heap at swap meets and the like.  Below is a preview of the first section I have started working on.  I am hoping to catalogue most of the parts of our cars in this manner, including OEM and replacement parts.  I have not yet decided how I will make this list available, although I am considering providing it as a free view-able list on this website which can be ordered in hard copy for those without internet access.

As for the photos, I will try to use as many of my own photos as possible, but there are a lot of pieces for which I don’t have the parts to take the photos.  So, for those pieces, I will likely need to ask for your help.  What do you think?  Do you like this idea?

Bantam Hub Cap

Usually, these have way more curb rash and spiral burns which make these hubcaps very difficult to restore. If you’re looking for a decent driver or a nice hubcap to restore, this is the one for you.

At this point, I am still considering screen printing plain baby moons for my car as the restoration work on a hub cap is a bit too much for me to take on at this point.

Friday morning finds

Do you have a gaping oval hole in your dashboard?  Don’t feel bad, it happens to a lot of us.  A seller in Pennsylvania is selling a 1936 Hupmobile gauge which will fit that hole perfectly.  As has been discussed here before, the Bantam gauges were based off of the 1935-1936 Hupmobile gauges.  However, the gauges installed in Bantam civilian cars featured three gauges, choosing to abandon the temperature gauge.  In the BRC’s, Bantam went to a quad gauge, but the placement of the temperature and oil pressure gauges were reversed.
